Another great week for our program as we were awarded a grant from the Hillsboro Hops Charitable Fund at the Hillsboro Community Foundation. Our request was partially funded and we are working to secure additional funds to complete a full project for both dugouts and press box. For now, we’ve started with the most important piece… our home dugout!

Improvements have already happened as a NEW BENCH was installed over the weekend. More improvements are coming with new shelving, paint, bat rack, helmet storage, coaches station, and dugout heaters. The press box will also receive a new coat of paint.

Thank you to our amazing coaching staff for blending their many talents under “other duties as assigned” – Coach Gavin Nakamura, Coach Josh Jepson. Thanks to Kaden Rose for working on this effort as his senior project with grant writing, sweat equity, and learning project management skills alongside our Grants Committee (Dustin Cramer, ABC co-Treasurer; Tracie Rose, ABC president; Jason Fritz, head coach). Special shout out to Todd Chun for all the help extended to Coach Nakamura!! Thank you to players Trey Dennis and Jayden Nakamura for their helping hands this past weekend.

BONUS SPOTLIGHTS… Thank you to Coach Payne Ashbrook, Dakota Chun, and Eli Holt for the strenuous labor of leveling the home plate area on Saturday. That did not go unnoticed and makes our field even better! AND, to Coach Josh Jepson for the multiple work days bettering our Snack Shack (more to come on this one!).
