Umpires Needed - great work for students

3 Feb 2022 by Tracie Rose

The umpire association that coordinates for our games is in need of umpires. Here is the message from them with contact info if interested.

Baseball players are very good umpires but they are usually never available during the week when umpires are needed. If baseball players want to umpire, I would encourage them to try and work one game a week on a night when they are available to work.

Umpires need to be at least 14 years old this year. Our training will begin the second week of March at 5 different locations around the metro area. Each location will train the same material. New umpires will need to attend one classroom session (2-1/2 hours) and one clinic (4 hours). Registration fee this year has been reduced to $35 and will be payroll deducted. The only money requirements this year will be for purchasing a hat ($15) an umpire ball bag, indicator and brush ($15) or an NYBUA umpire shirt ($15) – these will be available at the clinics. I have attached a flyer which can be posted on your message board.
